Our Story
DS Powersports didn’t start with a grand business plan. In 2010, Derrik Strickler found himself at a crossroads when the dealership he’d worked at for nearly a decade closed its doors unexpectedly. He could find another job, or he could bet on himself. He chose the latter.
Derrik had been in the powersports industry since 2001, and when he opened DS Powersports in Alexandria, he brought nearly 10 years of hands-on experience with him. More than 16 years later, that bet has paid off. DS Powersports has become Alexandria’s go-to shop for powersports service, parts, and accessories.
How We Work
We're not a big box dealership. We're a family-run business where the owner works in the shop and knows his customers by name. That means you get straight answers: what your machine actually needs, what it doesn't, and what things are going to cost before we start the work.
Sometimes the honest answer is that a repair isn't worth the cost. We believe you deserve to know that upfront. That transparency is how we've built the reputation we have, and it's how we plan to keep it.
The Team
DS Powersports is a true family operation. Derrik runs the shop and leads the technical work, backed by a team of experienced technicians who share his commitment to doing things right. Taryn handles the business side: bookkeeping, marketing, and keeping everything running behind the scenes. The kids even make appearances from time to time.
We're not just a business in Alexandria — we live here, ride here, and are invested in this community.
