Safety is our number one priority when it comes to motorcycles. The first line of defense when you’re on the road is a bike that’s in good running condition. After sitting for the winter, it’s a good idea to give your motorcycle a thorough inspection to make sure it’s mechanically sound and ready to ride.
What is a Full Service?
To help our motorcycle customers prepare for riding season, we offer what we call a full service. During a full service, we go over your bike from top to bottom — front to back, inside and out — looking for any mechanical issues. If we find something that needs attention, we call you right away to discuss your options and let you decide how to proceed.
A full service also includes fluid changes and new spark plugs.
What We Check During a Full Service
Our full service covers more than 25 points on your motorcycle. Here’s what we look at:
Tires
- Tire pressure — not uncommon for tires to lose a few pounds of air over winter
- Condition — checking for damage, dry rot, or uneven wear
Cables
- Proper freeplay and smooth movement
- Lubrication
Forks
- Abnormal wear or pitting on inner fork tubes
- Fork seals for leaking — forks low on oil won’t function properly, and fork oil is not something you want near your brake pads
Engine Oil & Filter
Even if you didn’t ride enough miles to require an oil change, heating and cooling of metal causes condensation inside your engine. Even a small amount of water in your crankcase causes premature breakdown of oil and hurts its ability to lubricate properly.
Spark Plugs
Relatively speaking, spark plugs are cheap. A fresh set each season will more than pay for itself in fuel savings from cleaner, more complete combustion.
